1. Creating a New Discount Code

When clicking Create, the hotel is taken to the form used to define a new discount code.

1.1 Code

• This is the text the guest will enter (e.g., MEMBER, BONVOY, STAFF50).

• Click Generate Code to auto-create a random code.

• Codes are not case-sensitive.

1.2 Usage Limit

Defines how many times the code can be used.

Options:

1. Usage Limit (number)

   • Example: 5 → The code is valid only for the first 5 bookings.

2. Unlimited

   • Code can be used an unlimited number of times until it expires.

1.3 Valid Period

• Define a start date and end date.

• Outside this window, the code will show as “invalid” to guests.

This allows promotions such as:

• Seasonal offers (e.g., Christmas discount)

• One-week staff testing window

• Long-term standing discounts for hotel members

1.4 Discount Value

Choose between:

a) Percentage

• Example: 100% → Free ride

• Example: 90% → Guest pays €0.50 instead of €5

• Example: 50% → Guest pays €2.50

b) Fixed Amount

• Example: 1 EUR → €1 discount from the total

• Example: 5 EUR → Free return ride when price is €5

1.5 Save

Click Save to activate the discount immediately.

3. Practical Use Cases (for SOP)

Important SOP Notes

✔ Never create public large-value codes without expiration
✔ For VIP guests, create single-use codes (usage limit = 1)
✔ Codes take effect immediately once saved
✔ Deleting a code makes all previous links invalid
✔ Track “Total Discounted” monthly for reporting
